INFORMATION ON THE PROCESSING OF PERSONAL DATA
of users consulting the website of ITS Alessandro Volta Foundation for New Technologies of Life and using its services, pursuant to Article 13 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679

The ITS Alessandro Volta Foundation for New Technologies of Life is a “nonprofit” legal entity in which Universities and Research Centers, Training Institutions, Schools, Businesses, and Local Authorities participate and which operates through projects consistent with the “New Technologies of Life” technological area. The Foundation’s Web site is an essential information and contact tool for the Foundation.

Pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (hereinafter the “Regulation”), this page describes how the personal data of users who consult the Foundation’s website, accessible electronically at www.itsvolta.it, are processed, information about the Cookies installed through this site and the necessary indications on how to manage their preferences regarding them. As a result of consulting the site, data relating to identified or identifiable individuals may be processed. This information does not pertain to other sites, pages, or online services that can be reached through hyperlinks that may be posted on the site but refer to resources outside the Foundation’s domain.

 

DATA CONTROLLER

The data controller is Fondazione Istituto Tecnico Superiore per le Nuove Tecnologie della Vita Alessandro Volta, SS 14 km 163.5 Basovizza – 34149 Trieste (Italy) info@itsvolta.it, in the person of the legal representative pro tempore.

 

Due to its type of business and size, the Foundation is not required to have a Data Protection Officer under Art. 37 of the GDPR.

LEGAL BASIS FOR PROCESSING

The types of personal data indicated on this page are processed by the Foundation in the performance of its tasks of public interest or otherwise related to the exercise of its institutional activity, mainly in the area of Continuing Education.

TYPES OF DATA PROCESSED AND PURPOSES OF PROCESSING

Navigation data

The computer systems and software procedures that enable the operation of this site acquire, in the course of their normal operation, some personal data whose transmission is implicit in the use of Internet communication protocols. This category of data includes IP addresses or domain names of the computers and terminals used by users, addresses in URI/URL (Uniform Resource Identifier/Locator) notation of the requested resources, the time of the request, the method used in submitting the request to the server, the size of the file obtained in response, the numerical code indicating the status of the response given by the server (successful, error, etc.) and other parameters related to the user’s operating system and computer environment.

These data, necessary for the use of web services, are also processed for the purpose of obtaining statistical information on the use of services (which pages are most visited; the number of visitors per time slot or daily; the geographical areas of origin; …) and technical control of the proper functioning of the services offered.

Browsing data do not persist for more than ……. days (subject to any need for the investigation of crimes by the judicial authority).

 

Data reported by the user

The optional, explicit and voluntary sending of messages to the Foundation’s contact addresses, private messages sent by users to institutional profiles/pages on social media (where this possibility is provided), as well as the completion and submission of forms on the site, entail the acquisition of the sender’s contact data, necessary to respond, as well as all personal data included in the communications.

Specific disclosures will be posted on the pages of the site dedicated to the provision of certain services.

Cookies and other tracking systems

No use is made of cookies for user profiling. The only processing carried out relates to the production of statistics, with pseudonymized data, on browsing the site www.itsvolta.it.

The configuration adopted, so as to exclude processing of identifying data, collects the following information:

  • The IP address, which is masked by resetting the last 2 bytes to zero (xxx.xxx.0.0)
  • The operating system used
  • The type of browser
  • The type of device used (PC, Smartphone, …)

Use is made of technical session (non-persistent) cookies, strictly limited to what is necessary for the safe and efficient navigation of the sites.

Information on the processing of personal data carried out through the social media platforms used by the Foundation

The Foundation processes personal data conferred by users through the pages of dedicated Social Media platforms within the scope of its institutional purposes, exclusively to manage interactions with users (comments, public posts, etc.) and in compliance with current regulations.

 

For the processing of personal data carried out by the operators of the social media platforms used by the Foundation, please refer to the information rendered by them through their respective privacy policies.

 

Interaction on the site with social networks and external platforms

It is possible to make interactions with social networks, or other external platforms, directly from the pages of this site. Interactions and information captured by this site are in each case subject to the User’s privacy settings related to each social network. In the event that a social network interaction service is installed, it is possible that, even if Users do not use the service, it will collect traffic data related to the pages where it is installed.

Google Analytics is a web analytics service provided by Google LLC (“Google”). Google uses the Personal Data collected for the purpose of tracking and examining the use of this Web Space, compiling reports, and sharing them with other services developed by Google. Browsing data are kept for a limited period. In particular, these will not be kept for more than 30 days. However, in exceptional circumstances, such as for needs related to judicial investigations, they could be kept for longer periods.

 

RECIPIENTS OF THE DATA

Recipients of the data collected as a result of consulting some of the services listed above are the following individuals designated by the Foundation, pursuant to Article 28 of the (EU) Regulations, as data controllers.

E_Factory Srl as the provider of services for the development, delivery and operational management of the site’s technology platform accessible electronically at www.itsvolta.it.

The personal data collected are also processed by the staff of the Foundation, who act on the basis of specific instructions given regarding the purposes and methods of such processing.

 

NOTICE TO EUROPEAN USERS

this privacy policy is prepared in accordance with the provisions of the European Data Protection Board in Guidelines 5/2020 of May 4, 2020, and Regulation (EU) 2016/679, the obligations under Art. 10 of Directive No. 95/46/EC, as well as the provisions of Directive 2002/58/EC, as updated by Directive 2009/136/EC, regarding Cookies.

RIGHTS OF INTERESTED PARTIES

Data subjects have the right to obtain from the Foundation, in the cases provided for, access to their personal data and the rectification or deletion thereof or the restriction of processing concerning them or to object to processing (Articles 15 et seq. of the Regulations). Data subjects who believe that the processing of personal data relating to them carried out through this site is in violation of the provisions of the Regulations have the right to lodge a complaint with the Guarantor, as provided for in Art. 77 of the (EU) Regulations, or to take appropriate legal action (Art. 79 of the Regulations).
