Data Network Specialist

ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN FOR THE DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS NETWORKS AND IOT DEVICES FOR HEALTH

The programme trains professionals in the management, security and testing of telecommunications (TLC) networks and services, with a focus on transmission media, communication protocols and both fixed and mobile devices. Graduates are equipped to develop Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, with skills in electronics and wireless communication, applicable to healthcare, agri-food, and environmental sectors. They are also capable of managing data—ensuring quality and security—from sensors and other devices, and of automating or integrating the operation of various systems.

Who can enrol

This programme is perfect for those who aspire to work in highly technical fields within the biomedical sector and hold a high school diploma (upper secondary education).

Duration

The course lasts two years, totaling up to 2,000 hours of training, which includes practical internships

Internship

Internships last up to 800 hours and can take place in Italy or abroad, within the ITS Academy network of partner companies

Method

Learning is hands-on and practical, with a strong focus on labs, real-world exercises, theoretical lessons, company internships, and project work. Each class is limited to a maximum of 25 students, ensuring personalized support and a collaborative learning environment

Work-study format

An opportunity to alternate between classroom training at the ITS, hands-on training within a company, and paid work experience at the same company

International students

Our programmes are delivered entirely in Italian. For this reason, applicants must demonstrate a minimum B2 level of Italian proficiency, which will be assessed during the selection process. An original or certified copy of your secondary school diploma (minimum 12 years of schooling) is required, accompanied by one of the following:
- Statement of Comparability issued by CIMEA (ENIC-NARIC Italy)
- Declaration of Value issued by the Italian Consulate
- Certificate of academic eligibility, if required in your country for access to higher education
Official translations into Italian of all the above-mentioned documents are required.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

From the entrance test to the final exam, discover how the programme is organized

SELECTION PROCESS
An entrance selection is required to assess the technical knowledge necessary for the program, as well as proficiency in English and basic computer skills. The selection process will be based on the candidates’ qualifications, the results of a multidisciplinary multiple-choice written test, and a technical-motivational interview

TRAINING PROGRAMME
The program includes classroom lessons, laboratory sessions, and company visits. Over 70% of the instructors come from the professional world, with at least three years of specific industry experience

INTERNSHIP
Internships are offered at leading companies in the sector, both in Italy and abroad. Each student is supported by a company mentor throughout the internship

FINAL EXAM
The final exam assesses the skills students have acquired through three tests: written, theoretical-practical, and oral. The exam is overseen by a dedicated commission. Upon passing the final exam at the end of the second year, students will receive the Diploma of Specialization in Applied Technologies, corresponding to Level V of the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) for lifelong learning
